The end of the vine cycle is marked by the harvesting of the ripe grapes. A controlled fall before autumn comes to shed its leaves and leave the plant bare. The end of one cycle and the beginning of another. Joy and nostalgia come together to celebrate a divine plant.

On Sunday, October 27, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., the vineyard of San Michele Island will host an extempore painting and photography event: “Art in the Vineyard,” an initiative that aims to introduce one of the most evocative and secret places of the lagoon through the works of artists. The theme on which these will be invited to work is the monastery vineyard-whose which has been entrusted to the Laguna nel Bicchiere Association for many years, in the special period between the end of the agricultural year, culminating in the grape harvest, and the beginning of autumn. The event will take place at the same time in many of the urban vineyards thatare members of the Urban Vineyards Association (U.V.A), which brings together similar entities from around the world, from Los Angeles to Thessaloniki, from Paris to Lisbon.

The works produced will be displayed in an exhibition to be held in Venice in the coming months, and a small selection will form a travelling exhibition, together with others from the associated wineries. This exhibition will first be held in Catania on the occasion of the annual meeting of U.V.A. members in June 2025, and will then be repeated in other cities participating in the project.

  • Registration: For organisational reasons, participation is limited to the first 50 artists who register by sending a message to Renzo (3477880677) or Vanna (3485697643).
  • Eligible Works: Eligible works must be graphic (e.g. painting, drawing) or photographic (both digital and analogue), with a maximum size of A4 (both when realised on physical media and when printed from digital).

In case of bad weather the initiative will be postponed to the following Sunday.
